Berlin's Programme for Sustainable Development 2 uses EU ERDF money to fund climate adaptation, decentralised rainwater management and nature-based solutions for green infrastructure, among other things. It is the largest state programme for urban greenery — but it is not intended for private individuals.

Requirements and how to apply
Eligible applicants are mainly senate and district administrations and their institutions, public-law corporations and foundations, charitable, benevolent and church bodies, public enterprises and the state-owned housing companies. Projects may be anywhere in the city; the funding period runs to 2027.
What you should know
The 2026/2027 double budget cut state funds sharply. Calls for proposals were suspended from December 2025; on 23 July 2026 the senate department announced a new funding scheme under which applications continue to be processed first-come-first-served up to the budget ceiling — possibly at a lower funding rate than applied for. We therefore list the programme as paused. Please check with the programme agency before investing effort.
