Grüne Höfe Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf

Funding programmeActive according to the original source, checked on 13 Sep 2026

We checked provider, area, application route, deadline and contact against the original source. This is not a recommendation and not a promise of funding.

The district funds the ecological upgrading of inner courtyards and front gardens with up to 50 euros per square metre of courtyard and a maximum of 5,000 euros. Eligible measures include unsealing, shrub and perennial beds, meadows, climbing supports and nesting aids. Tenants, house communities and other authorised users may apply; owners receive the advice but no funding unless tenants take an active part.

Requirements and how to apply

The property must lie inside Berlin's S-Bahn ring. You need the consent of the property management or owners plus a written undertaking not to raise rents because of the upgrade and to maintain the areas for ten years. As a rule the work must be done by the residents themselves. Site-adapted, mainly native wild species are required; plant lists dated April 2026 are available for download.

What you should know

An already green courtyard is not funded if non-native species are merely swapped for native ones. Statutory duties, replacement planting under the tree protection ordinance and measures serving the biotope area factor of a building permit are excluded. There is no legal entitlement to funding; it depends on the available budget.
