From its foundation funds, Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin supports projects that preserve or improve Berlin's natural environment, as well as environmental education. For community gardens, neighbourhood initiatives and biodiversity projects it is one of the few sources that also carries small schemes: projects up to 1,000 euros running for no more than a year use a simplified procedure.

Requirements and how to apply
Natural persons, private-law legal entities and partnerships may apply. The project must take place in Berlin, must not be commercial, must not have started yet and should begin no sooner than eight weeks from now. Statutory duties and compensatory or replacement measures are excluded. There is no institutional funding. Apply through the online portal with a cost and financing plan.
What you should know
The foundation funds are exhausted for 2026. Applications are possible again only for projects starting on 1 January 2027 at the earliest. Anyone wanting to build something in 2026 needs a different source.
