The route
From Grunewald S-Bahn station the route enters the forest and passes over the heights near the Teufelsberg to the Grunewaldturm. Eighty per cent of the route lies in woodland or by the shore — the highest share of green space in the starting set. In return it is also the only route with noticeable climbs: the alternation between the Havel heights and the shoreline costs height several times.
Along the Havelchaussee the route is shared with motor traffic in sections; the carriageway parts lie in 30 km/h zones and no classified main road is used. The one crossing without traffic lights lies on the transition towards Nikolassee.

No lighting; the forest tracks are soft after rain and not cleared in winter. On summer weekends the Havelchaussee is busy — anyone looking for quiet should ride early.
