The route

From the Schäfersee the route runs through the green corridor along Residenzstraße to the Nordgraben and follows it westwards. The Nordgraben is the connecting axis of the Reinickendorf green corridors: 92 per cent of the route is separated from motor traffic and 70 per cent lies in parkland or by water. Via Schäfchensee and Göschenpark it continues to Wittenau.

All three main-road crossings have traffic lights; three crossings over 9.6 kilometres is below the threshold in the children's criteria. Together with the flat alignment, sufficient width, resting places and a playground along the way, family suitability is therefore established by the criteria — what is missing is a public toilet.
