The route

The southern Wall Trail between Lichtenrade and Lichterfelde has the highest share of green space of any route in the starting set outside the pure park loops. 91 per cent of the length is separated from motor traffic and 66 per cent lies in open land. The route never climbs noticeably and is wide enough to ride two abreast.

All three main-road crossings have traffic lights; there is no point where you would have to merge without them. That is why this leisure route also qualifies for riding with children by the published criteria — those criteria are set out in full on this page.

What you should know beforehand

No lighting; the gravel sections in Marienfelde park and in the pasture landscape are soft after rain. The pasture landscape is a nature reserve and the paths should be ridden accordingly.
