The State of Berlin gives the districts funds for materials for volunteer projects. Eligible examples are plantings and greening in parks and green spaces and on publicly accessible streets and squares, up to 3,500 euros per individual measure.

Requirements and how to apply
Residents and non-profit initiatives and associations that contribute volunteer work can apply. The project must lie outside the Quartiersmanagement areas. Only costs actually paid for materials are eligible. The application is made informally to the local district office (purpose, type, scope, timeframe, costs).
What you should know
There is no legal entitlement; the district office decides within the available budget. Each district office sets its own application rounds and deadlines (Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: deadline of 27 February 2026 has passed), and the funds may be allocated before the end of the year. Items purchased remain the property of the State of Berlin. Ask your own district office for the current status before applying.
