About this place
In the residential complex at Gaillardstraße 28 in Berlin-Pankow, two courtyards were redesigned combining green roofs, a cascading retention roof and infiltration areas. Rainwater is drained with delay across the stepped roof surfaces and retained in the courtyards through evaporation beds and small water features. The measure reduces peak runoff during heavy rain and improves the local microclimate of the housing complex. The courtyards are private open spaces of the housing complex and are not open to the public.
