About this place
The forecourt of the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery at Gudrunstraße 20 in Berlin-Lichtenberg was de-sealed and redesigned. Instead of continuous asphalt surfaces, nine planted infiltration basins now drain rainwater locally into the ground, and reused natural stone paving was incorporated into the design. The square is built level-free and includes a barrier-free guidance system with a tactile map. As a public cemetery forecourt, the area is freely accessible.
