About this place
On Singerstraße the Mitte district office has created five so-called green gullies: planted street beds of around 25 square metres each, into which rainwater from the carriageway is channelled. Instead of running into the sewer, the water seeps away on the spot and evaporates through the plants. The beds thus relieve the sewer network during heavy rain and cool the street space at the same time. They were built in 2024 to a design from the previous year, at a cost of about 7,000 euros per bed. The beds lie in public street space and are freely accessible.
