About this place
When Blücherstraße was converted into a bicycle street in 2025, the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office unsealed a total of 1,200 square metres on both sides of the road. The tree pits were enlarged so that the roots of the street trees have more room, and planted with insect-friendly perennials. Channels between the kerbstones lead rainwater from the carriageway into the open areas, and green gullies were added. Of the roughly 600,000 euros in construction costs, about 210,000 euros went into the unsealing, partly financed from the environment and nature conservation office. The areas lie in public street space.
