How the calendar is made

Where the events come from, what we use and what is still missing.

At launch the calendar lists talks, guided tours, workshops and short courses at Berlin’s adult education centres (Volkshochschulen) plus street festivals and Christmas markets from the city’s open data. Programmes of theatres, concert halls, cinemas, clubs and museums are not included yet, as there is no data agreement for them. You can find their programmes via the venues.

Rules

  • Only sources with an open licence or written permission; we do not use sources bound by “ShareAlike”.
  • Every event names its source and the date of the data. If a source has not been updated recently, we hide it instead of showing old information.
  • Titles appear as the source publishes them. We do not copy descriptions; details are at the source.
  • If an event disappears from the source, that is not a cancellation: it leaves the calendar — please check with the organiser.
  • The order is always by time, then place and title — never by payment or popularity.
  • We do not include courses with several sessions, online events or events without an address.

What is missing

  • Programmes of theatres, opera houses, concert halls, cinemas, clubs and museums (data agreements are not yet in place)
  • Exhibitions with their run and opening hours
  • Events for children (in the children’s section), readings in libraries
  • Christmas markets 2026: the city usually publishes the list from mid-November; the calendar picks it up at the next nightly update.
